Paul Wilkins performed as a special guest on RTÉ Lyric FM’s Movies & Musicals, presented by Aedín Gormley and broadcast live from the Curtis Auditorium at MTU Cork School of Music. This special event formed part of the celebrations for the 70th Cork International Film Festival, honouring music for stage and screen.
The programme (1pm–4pm) featured live musical theatre performances from students across all four years of the BA (Hons) Musical Theatre degree. Paul was warmly welcomed back to the auditorium, returning to the school from which he recently graduated with a First Class Honours Master’s Degree in Music.
Paul performed two contrasting works: “New York” from Two Strangers, with David Hayes on piano, and “And The Rain Keeps Falling Down” from Elegies for Angels, Punks & Raging Queens, accompanied by Cathal Synnott. He also joined Aedín for an interview, reflecting on his time in Cork and sharing his hopes for the musical theatre landscape in Ireland to grow “bigger and bigger and bigger!”
